Directorate of Distance Education, D.U.

During the last two decades it is observed that most of the departments of the University received a large number of applications for admission into the M.A./M.Sc./M.Com. previous year classes. Due to limited number of seats in post-graduate classes, a large number of students can not enrol themselves as students of the University. For this, a good number of students decided to appear as private candidates. To help a number of students who due to limited number of seats in post-graduate classes or for other reasons can not enrol themselves as students of the University, the 73 rd meeting of the Academic Council vide Resolution No. 5 held on 2nd  September' 2000 decided to introduce Distance Education in the University. This will provide an opportunity to the students who can not enrol themselves as students of  the University to obtain a post-graduate degree through the mode of distance education. The degree shall have the same standard and status as the post graduate degree of the regular students under Semester System. The introduction of distance education will not allow a student to appear in the post-graduate examination as private candidate.
